Meet Casey

Hey there! I am Casey, fiber artist and shepherdess behind Deerly Woven Farm and the host of “The Woolstead Podcast”. I am a Christian, wife to my sweet husband Brian, and homeschooling mama to five.

I started The Woolstead podcast (FKA the Deerly Woven podcast) back in February of 2020. At that time I was on a journey, searching for the breed of sheep I wanted to bring on to our farm. I wanted to talk directly to shepherds, hear their stories, and what they loved about the breeds they raised. I knew I couldn’t be the only one wanting to hear directly from the source, so the podcast idea was born.

After my “Heritage Sheep Journey” series on the podcast, I decided on the Lincoln Longwool sheep to bring onto our farm. Once we got our Lincoln starter flock in 2021, I jumped into shepherding. Now, a few years later, we have Lincoln & Jacob sheep in our flock.

I took a longer hiatus from podcasting than I had originally planned. But, I am finally ready to get back to it. I have missed all the engaging and rich conversations with fellow shepherds and fiber artists. When it comes to shepherding and fiber arts, there are always areas to grow in and new things to learn from others, and I can’t wait for you to learn right along side me!

When I am not snuggling babies and lambs, or chatting with fellow shepherds, you can find me in my wool cottage studio creating or teaching with wool.
