Handspun Hog Island yarn fresh off the spinning wh Handspun Hog Island yarn fresh off the spinning wheel.🐏 ⁣
⁣
I bought a gorgeous Hog Island fleece from @labellafarmde last year and have slowly took it from raw fleece to spinning it into this wonderful squishy yarn. ⁣
⁣
The Hog Island breed is one of my favorites to spin. Even though it has a shorter staple length, I still find it so easy and enjoyable to spin. It’s high lanolin content makes it glide nicely onto the bobbin.⁣
⁣
If you haven’t tried working with Hog Island wool yet, I highly recommend it! 💜⁣

I am excited to announce the release of my brand new pattern “Elderflower”! Like most of my knit patterns, nature plays a huge part in the design. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Elderberry is one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in the world! But, did you know that the delicate white flowers that are peppered all over the Elderberry bush, the “Elderflower”, also has amazing beneficial medicinal properties too! ⁣⁣
 ⁣⁣
Those beautiful tiny flowers inspired the cable pattern throughout this hat. I knit mine in @pradodelana ‘s lovely "Ovejas" yarn line, in the colorway “Saúco”. ⁣⁣
 ⁣⁣
This hat is designed with an opening at the top to pull your ponytail or messy bun through. When I am outside on our homestead doing chores, I am always throwing my hair up in a hair tie to get it out of the way, and we all know that when you throw a hat on top of a bun it can cause a big bulk inside your hat and not fit right. So, I wanted to design a fun textured hat, where you can pull your hair through and still keep your head nice and toasty (it is also great to throw on when you're having a crazy hair day...which is my hair most days lol).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⭐️Pattern is available on Ravelry and my Website!⭐️⁣

On this week’s episode, I chatted with Delaney Drake of @eweandmecreamery . ⁣
⁣
After dealing with dietary health issues, Delaney assumed dairy was off-limits....until her sister introduced her to sheep’s milk cheese, which her body amazingly could handle! This led Delaney and her husband on a journey of starting their own sheep dairy, with plans of offering delicious “Sheep’s Milk Ice Cream”!!! ⁣
⁣
During the interview, Delaney shares their experience this past year getting started with dairy sheep and all the exciting plans they have for the future!⁣

There is not only a brand new podcast episode this week, but a video as well! I got to do an in-person interview with Ashley Hoffman of Cedar View Farm. Ashley has a breeding flock of FBA registered Finnsheep, offering both breeding and pet quality stock. She also offers wool in all stages of processing – raw, washed, combed, dyed, roving, yarn, and handmade items. ⁣
⁣
On the podcast, you will hear the sit-down portion of the interview where Ashley shares her fiber journey story and how she fell in love with the Finn breed. But if you would like to see the whole interview, which includes Ashley's studio, her beautiful flock, and adorable lambs, you can head over to my YouTube channel. (Link in Bio)⁣

I hope that everyone is staying warm and wrapped in wool on this chilly Monday! I am staying nice and cozy as I type this in my longwool cardigan, which I think goes perfectly with today’s podcast episode!⁣
⁣
In this week's episode, I chat with the wonderful mother-daughter duo of Flying Fibers. Jeri and Irina have a magnificent yarn shop in Pennsylvania and a flock consisting of Wendslydales, Leicester Longwools, and Shetland sheep. They both have a passion for saving rare and heritage breeds through education. ⁣
⁣
During the interview, you will hear Jeri's story of how she fell in love with sheep, Irina's experience growing up in the sheep and wool community, all about their flock, yarn shop, and more! I can't wait for you to hear this episode! ⁣
