About

Meet Casey

I am a believer, wife, homeschooling mama to four, fiber artist, and a sheep fanatic! My family and I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.

My fiber obsession started when I learned to crochet back in 2013 when my daughter was two and then it kind of snowballed from there. With each child I have had, I have learned a new fiber craft. Weaving, knitting, and spinning followed after the birth of my three sons.

Now to take my obsession to a whole new level, we will be raising sheep…..but not quite yet. You can follow my journey here and on my podcast as I learn about all of the endangered breeds of sheep to find which one we will be raising on our homestead!

There is not only a brand new podcast episode this week, but a video as well! I got to do an in-person interview with Ashley Hoffman of Cedar View Farm. Ashley has a breeding flock of FBA registered Finnsheep, offering both breeding and pet quality stock. She also offers wool in all stages of processing – raw, washed, combed, dyed, roving, yarn, and handmade items. ⁣
⁣
On the podcast, you will hear the sit-down portion of the interview where Ashley shares her fiber journey story and how she fell in love with the Finn breed. But if you would like to see the whole interview, which includes Ashley's studio, her beautiful flock, and adorable lambs, you can head over to my YouTube channel. (Link in Bio)⁣

I hope that everyone is staying warm and wrapped in wool on this chilly Monday! I am staying nice and cozy as I type this in my longwool cardigan, which I think goes perfectly with today’s podcast episode!⁣
⁣
In this week's episode, I chat with the wonderful mother-daughter duo of Flying Fibers. Jeri and Irina have a magnificent yarn shop in Pennsylvania and a flock consisting of Wendslydales, Leicester Longwools, and Shetland sheep. They both have a passion for saving rare and heritage breeds through education. ⁣
⁣
During the interview, you will hear Jeri's story of how she fell in love with sheep, Irina's experience growing up in the sheep and wool community, all about their flock, yarn shop, and more! I can't wait for you to hear this episode! ⁣

🧶 Farm Yarn is my Favorite 🧶 ⁣ ⁣ These d 🧶 Farm Yarn is my Favorite 🧶 ⁣

These days my knitting needles are consumed with beautiful farm yarn and it’s time for my loom to be the same! ⁣
⁣
One of my goals this year is to weave more and to weave with wool. I have almost exclusively only woven with commercial cotton yarn since learning to weave 5 years ago. ⁣
⁣
I need to give a big shout-out to Lilly Marsh @lillymarsh for letting me buy some beautiful Lincoln and Gotland weaving yarn from her stash! I can’t wait to get this on the loom! ❤️🐑❤️⁣
